How it’s scored

The same linear scale the Corps uses

01

Age- and sex-banded tables

Pull-ups, push-ups, and the run each use eight age brackets (17–20 through 51+) and separate tables for men and women. The plank is the exception — one table, everyone.

02

A floor and a ceiling per event

Every event has a minimum performance worth 40 points and a maximum worth 100 (70 for push-ups). Everything in between is scored on a straight line — the same method as the official table.

03

One weak event fails the whole test

Score under the minimum in any single event and the PFT fails outright, no matter how high your total runs. 150 combined points, with every event above its floor, is the least it takes to pass.

Questions

FAQ

What events make up the Marine Corps PFT?+
Three events: a choice of dead-hang pull-ups or push-ups, a forearm plank hold, and a timed 3-mile run. Each is scored from 0 to 100 points — push-ups cap at 70 — for a 300-point maximum.
What’s a passing PFT score?+
150 points total, with at least 40 points in every event. Falling short of the minimum in any single event fails the whole test, even if your combined total is well over 150.
What are the PFT classes?+
First Class runs 235–300, Second Class 200–234, and Third Class 150–199. A total below 150, or a failing mark in any single event, is a failed PFT regardless of class.
Should I do pull-ups or push-ups?+
Pull-ups score up to 100 points; push-ups are capped at 70 no matter how many you perform. A perfect 300 is only reachable through pull-ups — the push-up route tops out at 270.
Why does my score change with age?+
Every event except the plank is scored on age-banded tables — eight brackets from 17–20 up to 51+ — and on separate tables for men and women, so the same raw performance is judged against what’s realistic for that group.
Is the plank scored differently for men and women?+
No. The plank is the one event scored on a single table for everyone, regardless of age or sex — full points at 3 minutes 45 seconds held, minimum passing points at 1 minute 10 seconds.
What changed for the PFT in 2026?+
Marines in combat-arms military occupational specialties can now be scored sex-neutral, on the male age-banded tables, and must clear 210 points as a result — per MARADMIN 613/25, effective 1 January 2026. Everyone outside combat arms stays on the standard sex- and age-normed tables.
Does this calculator match the official Marine Corps score?+
It’s built from the scoring tables in MCO 6100.13A (through Change 4), using the same linear point scale the Corps applies between each table’s minimum and maximum. Your official score of record still comes from a monitored test entered in MCTIMS.
What if I fail one event but my total is over 150?+
It still counts as a failed PFT. Every event carries its own floor, and missing it fails the entire test regardless of your combined score.
Can I row instead of running?+
Marines 46 and older can row 5,000 meters in place of the run, and younger Marines can too with medical or postpartum authorization. This calculator covers the standard 3-mile run; rowing is scored on a separate table.

This is an independent, unofficial tool built from the published scoring tables in Marine Corps Order 6100.13A (through Change 4). It does not connect to MCTIMS or Marine-On-Line, and it is not a system of record. Always confirm your official score with a certified FFI/CPTR-monitored test.
